Meet Our Pastor

Pastor W. G. “Bill” Jefferson, was born the second son of a second son, Earl S. Jefferson, Sr., and

Patricia A. Daymon Jefferson Sconiers, in Ocala, Florida.  His siblings are Earl S. Jefferson, Jr., Thomas E. Jefferson, La Tanya Y. Jefferson, Roderick “Skip” Jefferson, and Yantana D. Jefferson (deceased).

Pastor Bill’s christian roots began as a member of Church of God By Faith (COGBF), The Temple, in Ocala.  He spent several of his formative years there as well as his early development years at Matthew-Scippio Academy, the church’s private school. 

He surrended to the calling of Christ early in life at the age of 12 when he committed to Christ he would correct his ways.  Since then God has protected his life but allowed him to travel through this life as he pleased.  Pastor Bill delivered his first sermonette at the age of 14 one Sunday evening at the temple entitled, “Courage to be Different”.

Pastor Bill was drawn to music especially in the church where he was able to develop his skills playing piano, saxophone, and finally settling on the guitar. 

His leadership skills were evident at the age of 18 when he headed a youth group called, “The Cousins Community Choir” which consisted of 40 members that travelled throughout the state and southeast spreading the Word of God through their contemporary music. 

As noted, he was born the son of Earl Jefferson, Sr., however much of pastor’s development came via the late Bishop Melton L. Sconiers, his father.  From about the age of 9, the former Eld. M. L. Sconiers was a significant influence in his life teaching spirituality, hard work ethic, compassion and concern for people, organizational skills, financial skills, most important life and relationship lessons.  He was truly a father in all respects to Pastor Bill.

Pastor Bill actively worked as a member in various capacities for The Temple Church of God by Faith, Emanuel COGIC (Ocala), New Hope Ministries (Orlando), and Malone Memorial COGIC.  Pastor Bill answered his call to preach and teach, and by the grace of God he is currently serving as pastor of BrightView Church of God in Christ in Apopka, Florida, where he is, “Sharing the brilliance of Christ through life”. 

Pastor Bill receives love and support from his wife, Marveen Z. Jefferson, his children, William, Whitney, Weldon Marcus, and his one granddaughter, Courtney Jefferson.

This servant of the Most High God believes the way to eternal life is through the Holy Ghost, which God gives to all who are willing to believe, trust, and obey.  At a mature time in his life Pastor Bill earnestly surrendered to God’s will.  Today he lives by this motto, God’s will is my life”. He is determined to do what God instructs him to do.
